A Contemporary Korean Sanctuary in the Sky

The Signiel Residence Renovation Project, located on the upper floors of Lotte World Tower, the symbol and tallest building in Seoul, South Korea, is a space where cutting-edge architecture and long-standing Korean traditions are calmly yet luxuriously harmonized, and it is also a space that contains the philosophy of the client and designer Kim Sang-yoon who want to incorporate Korean sensibility into everyday life.

The wooden louver ceiling, stone base, and delicate Korean paper panels create a quiet rhythm reminiscent of the traditional Korean house, and this project, which combines these traditional elements with minimal modern beauty, captures Korea's unique identity.

The space, which uses spatial layers inspired by Hanok, the scent of raw wood permeating the space, and custom furniture designed by the designer, quietly captures the beautiful Seoul skyline presented by nature, such as the light and clouds that change every day. When you enter the space away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the lighting is carefully hidden so that the splendor is not revealed in the simplicity, further maximizing the beauty of the space.

The design language of this space, "Madang" and "Daecheong," are important elements in the space. The open and meditative layout, which promotes light, the scent of space, and the natural flow and communication between spaces, creates a visual continuity with the vertical sliding wooden doors inspired by bamboo, while forming a subtle boundary. The natural stone used in the living room stepping stone and kitchen zone creates a tactile contrast with the sophisticated combination of wood, and the honesty of the material and the exquisite craftsmanship are felt.

The furniture carefully made by the craftsman in the traditional way and the detailed panels with custom-made brass and fabrics throughout the space further deepen the density of the space. The light coming through the living room ceiling, which is made of layers of wood and Korean paper, adds a soft glow to the space, reminiscent of traditional hanji windows, and provides a sense of tranquility.

This project not only presents a new Korean aesthetic to people around the world, but also presents a new vision of a quiet luxury lifestyle where cultural heritage, craftsmanship, and modern life coexist with a quiet elegance.

하늘 가까이에서 만나는 한국의 고요한 공간

대한민국 수도 서울의 상징이며 최고층 빌딩인 롯데월드타워 상층부에 위치한 시그니엘 레지던스 레노베이션 프로젝트는 최첨단 건축 양식과 유서 깊은 한국의 전통이 차분하면서도 고급스럽게 조화를 이룬 공간이며, 한국의 감성을 일상에 녹여내고자 하는 건축주와 김상윤 디자이너의 철학이 담긴 공간이기도 하다.

원목 루버 천장, 석조 기단, 그리고 섬세한 한지 패널 등은 전통 한옥의 정취를 떠올리게 하는 고요한 리듬을 만들어 내며 이러한 전통적인 요소들과 미니멀한 현대미를 결합한 이 프로젝트는 한국만의 정체성을 담아낸다.

한옥에서 영감을 받은 공간적 레이어, 공간에 스며있는 원목의 향기, 디자이너가 직접 디자인한 맞춤 가구를 이용한 공간은 하루가 다르게 변화하는 빛과 구름 등 자연이 선사하는 아름다운 서울 스카이라인을 조용히 담아내고 있다. 도시의 혼잡한 생활에서 벗어나 공간에 들어서면 단순함 속에서도 화려함이 드러나지 않도록 정교하게 숨겨진 조명이 공간의 아름다움을 더욱 극대화한다.

이 공간의 디자인 언어인 "마당"과 "대청"은 공간에서 중요한 요소이다.

빛, 공간의 향기, 공간 사이의 자연스러운 흐름과 소통을 촉진하는 개방적이고 명상적인 레이아웃은 대나무를 모티브로 한 수직 형태의 슬라이딩 목재 도어와 시각적 연속성을 유지하면서도 미묘한 경계를 형성한다.  거실 평상 디딤돌과 주방 존에 사용된 천연석은 세련된 목재 결합과 촉각적인 대조를 이루며, 소재의 정직함과 정교한 장인의 손길이 느껴진다.

공간 곳곳에 장인이 전통방식인 짜맞춤으로 정성스럽게 만든 가구와 맞춤 제작된 황동과 패브릭을 접목한 디테일 패널은 공간의 밀도를 한층 더 깊게 만듭니다. 원목과 한지의 결합으로 겹겹이 만들어진 거실 천장을 통해 들어오는 빛은 공간에 은은한 빛을 더해 전통적인 창호지 창문을 연상시키며 평온함을 선사한다.

이 프로젝트는 전 세계 사람들에게 한국의 미학을 새롭게 제시할 뿐만 아니라, 문화유산, 장인 정신, 그리고 현대적인 삶이 고요한 품격과 함께 공존하는 조용한 럭셔리 라이프스타일의 새로운 비전을 제시하고자 한다.
